Dunnie Onasanya is a passionate & resilient first generation Nigerian American who has achieved many feats regardless of the times and changes throughout her life. As a Summa Cum Laude graduate of the historic Tuskegee University she obtained a dual degree in the areas of Business Administration and Sales/Marketing.
She is a devoted mother of two and is also a full time studio artist at the VisArts center located in Rockville, MD where she is investing her time and energy in developing her artistry practice as a canvas painter, muralist & creative entrepreneur.
Her work is heavily influenced by her West African heritage and faith in GOD. As an expressionist intuitive painter she creates breathtaking abstract works, cultural masks, hamsas and other historic symbols with the use of bright bold colors, metallic paints, gold leaf, crushed glass and jewels.
Dunnie is one of the newest 2022 color authorities for the Home Depot & BEHR Paint. She was also recently featured in Hyundai’s national campaign for the world’s first ever Sport Adventure Vehicle, the 2022 Santa Cruz.
Dunnie was the featured International visual artist at AfroChic Cultural Arts Festival 2018 in Toronto Canada. In summer 2018 she performed a live painting demonstration of cultural masks at the Umu Igbo Unite Nigerian Cultural Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana.
By the grace of GOD Dunnie is dedicated to sharing her journey and artistry practice to aid in the healing of others through art; which has been her primary form of therapy. Dunnie uses her gifts to inspire others, by bringing them positive energy, beauty, love, joy, and light.
