Dunnie Onasanya is an international fine artist, educator, and the current Artist-in-Residence at Hotel Zena in Washington, DC. Guided by her mission to create art that heals, inspires, and transforms, Dunnie uses her artistry practice to foster personal healing, meaningful connection, and cultural dialogue.
Her vibrant abstract works incorporate metallic pigments, gold leaf, glass, jewels, and mixed media, creating richly layered compositions influenced by restorative energy, movement, faith, motherhood, and her West African heritage. Her practice extends beyond the canvas through immersive art, wellness, and community-centered programming, as well as custom artwork created for residential and commercial spaces.
Dunnie is also the Artist-in-Residence at Modern Contempo in North Bethesda, Maryland, where her work is featured in the flagship showroom. Her artwork is currently on view at Viceroy Washington DC, Tysons Tower Club, and Milk & Honey, and she previously completed an artist residency at The Morrow Hotel, where she led the Art of Inner Peace Paint & Sip Wellness Workshop Series.
As a faculty instructor and associate artist at VisArts in Rockville, Maryland, Dunnie continues to expand the intersection of creativity, education, and wellness. Her work with the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art has included a transformative workshop series rooted in creativity, emotional wellness, cultural connection, and community engagement.
